According
to the National Geographic the area of La Garita and Atenas
has the best climate of the world! In the rainy season when
the San Jose area will turn pouring wet around noon in La
Garita the sun will still shine and temperatures will remain
at 24 C. This is one of the reasons why the upper-class from
San Jose since long has had country-houses in this beautiful
tranquil area to spend weekends and holidays.
Time used
to stand still here and years ago the journey here would take
the city-folks hours. But when the highway to Puntarenas was
built and on that same stretch the Costa Rica International
Airport, La Garita was no longer the remote paradise at the
far west-end of the Central Valley, it became reachable in
30 minutes from San Jose and 10 minutes from the International
Airport.
And still
it remained a different world, far from the crowds and traffic-jams,
a place where one can still leave his keys in the car, where
people are friendly and helpful. Foreigners soon discovered
this area and established themselves here.
Now La
Garita is proud of his excellent bilingual schools, educational
bird-rescuing project Zoo Ave and the best-equipped Spa in
Costa Rica. Famous for its beautiful hotels and restaurants,
the business-school Incae with students from all over the
world, its nurseries and many hours of sun-shine!
Here in
La Garita one can truly live the Pura Vida, the Costarican
Life, amidst a wonderful mix of neighbors that will either
be from all over the world or Ticos who have embraced their
international neighbors with open arms.
